Became a fan:I became a fan one Thursday night in 1983 when a friend dragged me to the Back Room at Pav to listen to a "guy named Mike Goggin". Rusty and Tom joined him later. When the set ended, my friend persuaded Tom to sing one last song for me. He sang Fogelberg's "Looking For A Lady".
Comments:Saw you all again at Ziggy's in Winston-Salem, NC in 1996. Wish you'd come to Greensboro. Check out Greensboro's City Stage in October and Fridays at Five at the Depot during the summer.

Became a fan:Twelve years ago I was introduced to them by a guy who says he took the "Maureen" out one time. Then my friends in Georgetown would gather at the Bayou about every month to see the guys. Now, living in Alexandria I get over to the Birchmere about every time they are playing. I even have dinner there now that the food is better.
Comments:It's been really fun to see them and their music change and yet stay the same over these years. The addition of Micheal Lillie has been great and I love hearing them no matter who is able to show up. They are the only band I keep tabs on! It's great they have been able to keep up the gig curcuit with all they have going on and obviously.....still enjoy it.

Became a fan:I attended Hollins College and heard them play for the first time on the lawn at my school. I've been hooked ever since. I heard them play at UVA, Lynchburg and Loyola during my college years and since that time, have heard them play at the Birchmere several times, 8x10 in Baltimore, and even at private weddings. I thought they weren't around anymore until I received the latest postcard about their appearance at the Birchmere in November. Unfortunately, I received the postcard after the fact. Plus it went to my parents' address. I'm absolutely thrilled to hear that they're still playing because they are truly my favorite band of all time. I am an avid runner, and when I ran my first marathon (Marine Corps in D.C.), I made a special tape of all my SGGL favorites and it kept me going for 26.2 miles! I never get tired of hearing City Girl! I hope their schedule for 1999 will feature more performances at the Birchmere, Ram's Head and maybe somewhere in Baltimore. I have suggestions of locations if anyone is interested. SGGL lives on and that makes my day!!!!
