Became a fan:I'm not actually a fan of the group. Mike
Goggin and I were in the same dorm, same
suite at the University of Virginia. We haven't
been in touch since I graduated in 1983. If
Mike has an e-mail address, please give him
mine and tell him "Adak" sent you! I'll have
to try to get up to NoVa to see him perform. I
didn't know he was still playing his guitar and
singing.

Comments:I am a Michael Lille fan and am very happy to hear that his solo career seems to be taking off. One of my favorite memories is traveling to C'ville one night and being in a bar with him playing and just a few people hanging out (there was a snow storm outside). Comments:Do you forward comments to them? Perhaps you can answer these questions:
1) They did a song at the Barns a few years ago (Tom on lead vocals) called "Let's Make a Deal." It was great, but I haven't heard it since - howcome?
2) Did they drop the ".com" part? If so, terrific! Was that just a temporary thing, or is it continuing? I just don't see a need for a drummer!
Thanks for any info you can offer. Great web page!

I've also had the pleasure of being a leader at some high school camps where Tom Goodrich was the performer. We would just hang out. It was great.
Comments:My congrats to Mike L. for winning the troubador contest at Telluride in 96. I think he came in 2nd or 3rd in 94 or 95. Just that is a major coup in my book. I also think Mike is playing at the SONG Festival in August. While I'm on the subject; 3 things to check out during your lifetime are : "The Telluride Bluegrass Festival"; "The Rockygrass Festival"; and "The Song(s) Festival". They are all during the summer in Colorado; and also run by the same folks----"Planet Bluegrass" See ya there!

Comments:Wish that I could have been at M. Lilley's midnight mass service in '95 when he sang the song that he wrote at church in his home town. These guys never cease to amaze me in the way that they can perform great music, yet still have lives in which they recognize those things that are REALLY important in life. Became a fan:I became a fan in 1985 when I was visiting my best friend, Liz Ball at Mary Baldwin College in Stauntin, VA. Speidel Goodrich and Goggin played the Sunday of a Spring Fling weekend. Liz couldn't tell me enough how GREAT these guys were and I agreed with her whole-heartedlly after seeing them! Unfortunately, my plane was scheduled back to Boston, so we had to leave during the show. It wasn't until Jan. 1994 that I saw them (Now SGGL!) at the Birchmere. My sister, Betsy, was living in Arlington, VA at the time. I was visiting and Liz was there from Denver and she decided to check the paper to see if, by chance, SGGL was playing anywhere that evening. Sure enough!! Wow! We had a ball. My sister became a true fan immediately and I wondered why I hadn't listened to thier music for the past how many years. I'm making up for that now. I've turned many friends on and have promised a CD to one or two. Most of all, I look forward to the day my husband can experience them live! Our 1yr and 2 1/2yr olds love to clap between songs with the the crowd. I'm listening now and look forward to more of SGGL in the years to come. Not only is your music incredible, but the way you appear to enjoy eachother is really neat! Thanks for sharing your talent!

Became a fan:I first heard SGG in Norfolk, VA at Phillip's Waterside'd deck bar in 1983. I was a bartender and my friend Toby Townsend, the manager, signed them to play the Deck. This was the first of many years of friendship, music, laughter, and wild times.
Comments:I drew a caricature of the band that was framed and given to them as a gift. I would love to contact them and say hello, or get in touch with anyone from that era who knew them and partied with us on those crazy summer days. Best memory: on a slow night the guys got on the bar and sang an a capella version of "Is She Really Going Out With Him?" to my fiance and me. Second best memory: same night, my friend Pat and I sang "Good Lovin'" during their break on their equipment and microphone and the boys got up and backed us up (I can't sing worth a damn).

Became a fan:I first saw the guys as a freshman at Hampden-Sydney in 1984. I became an instant fan and followed them all around Virginia over the next four years, with roadtrips to Mary Baldwin, Sweet Briar, RMWC, Hollins and of course UVa. Their music will forever remind me of carefree college days in Virginia.
Comments:More recently I have been to see the band play at the finest acoustic venue in the South -- a great little bar called Eddie's Attic in the Decatur/Emory section of Atlanta. It is a packed house whenever they come to town and its like a Virginia colleges reunion for Atlantans. Check out the schedule and come hang out at Eddie's.

Became a fan:Where do I begin...? Oh yeah, the Deck at Phillips Waterside in 1983 (Thanks Toby!) Thanks for all the great memories, guys; from the July concert in C-ville to being 'shussed' at the Birchmere, and traveling to Baltimore and DC-from Norfolk- just to see them play (Ashlyn and I were stalkers!) And now, Keith and I just enjoy exposing new "older" friends to the music we loved as kids. Thanks ALWAYS!

Became a fan:We both knew Tom and Rusty at UVa (Com '80, Coll '80) and sang with them in the University Singers and the Glee Club. We knew of SGGL's existence, but never heard a performance until last summer, in Richmond (SGL). We bought "Headin' South" and listen to it often--our 8 year old daughter sings along!
Comments:We missed SGGL's June performance in Richmond (out of town). Any chance of more concert dates here?!?

Became a fan:Three years ago we attended a show in ALexandria, VA.
we have been fans ever since even with the warm stale beer to the
the Birchmere. The most beautiful SSGL show I have personnally
seen was a the Wolf Trap Barns. Becoming a fan was simple
one show at the Birchmere was all it took. The funny
thing is that every show that we go to we see new people
but always the same couples!!!! You do have a loyal following!!!!
We Love You,
Make more trips to Virginia this summer, Please.
Comments:On May 17th Scott and I are getting married, The
song that we selected as our wedding song was
"One Heart" . We wanted a song that meant
something to us, and was not just "The Wedding
Song" of the year. To add a little extra, us decided
to play "The Dog Song" when Scott removes the garter
from my leg, Just for fun.

Became a fan:I first heard your music about 8yrs ago. A friend
gave me your first record as a Christmas present.
I use to listen to it all the time. But during the
course of years I spent at Radford University I lost
the album, never got around to buying it again but
I love the sound you guys have.
Comments:The main reason I looked up you guys on the Web is I
recently bought the new DMB cd "Crash". On the album,
when I heard song #9 "Lie in our graves" I heard that
unique guitar sound. Even though I haven't heard and
SGGL song in about 6yrs, I recognized that sound immediately
and knew that DMB couldn't have originated it. Then I
remember that both groups were from the UVA area. My
question is if you notice the similarity? Do you guys
hang with the DMB or did you happen to work with him on
the song? Just tryin' to kill my curiosity. By the way
I am 23yrs old and currently in the Navy out of Norfolk,VA.
