Poll response: Prefer live recordings

Became a fan:I met my husband at the old Mine Shaft Cellar, complete with Leon as the doorman. We danced to American Pie. We saw the band many times through the years including right before our wedding, right before the birth of our 1st child and now we are looking forward to seeing them again in Charlottesville June 9th, 2 days before our next anniversary. There is no other band I would be so proud to have as part of these special memories.

Became a fan:Hey JMU grads!!!! These guys were THE band to see during the 80's when I was attending JMU (class of 1986). I am a Charlottesville native and knew them from seeing them around C-ville. Yes, I was there at the final amphitheatre show at UVa. I have many turned many peeps onto the great music these guys put out. The shows at The Mineshaft were the best ... without doubt. I live in Va Beach now...if these guys would only come down here and play again....maybe at the Jewish Mother...or even better...at the Norva. Godspeed guys....and GO DUKES!!!!!

Favorite SGGL Song: I will go
Favorite SGGL Album: Headin South

Became a fan:I I first saw the guys play at the Knights of Columbus hall in Newport News, VA. in the summer of 1982. If I remember correctly Robin Thompson was the feature band. For the rest of the summer I saw them at Phillips in Norfolk.

Comments:Over the years I've seen them all over Virginia and Maryland. They played at my school, Washington College at a party my fraternity put on. My wife became a fan at William and Mary. Now our little girl Caroline is a fan (yes of course that's how she got her name). We just moved to Texas so it is a little harder to see the guys play. We missed Kerrville this year but if they come back we'll definitely be there! Continued success!

Favorite SGGL Song: Girl with the red dress on
Favorite SGGL Album: Live recordings I made on the deck at Phillips

Poll response: Prefer live recordings

Became a fan:Met the guys at Phillips Waterside on the deck, some of their first performances. They were our house band basically all summer. Went to UVA but didn't know them there. Following them ever since. We helped design the first SGGL t-shirt in their last (ha ha) performance at UVA, way back when.

Comments:They were looking for updates on the McAllisters, Lew Marshall, and Toby. Sandy is still in Cambridge as a lawyer, Larry is in Florida running a restaurant, Toby still doing the computer internet stuff in Ocean City and I am not sure of Lew Marshall. Sandy and Toby are in the phone book in the respective cities, don't have their phone numbers available.

He played at some of the Young Life meetings while I was in HS and he was also my guitar teacher for about 4 months until I moved away for college.

Favorite SGGL Song: Carry Me Home and Caroline
Favorite SGGL Album: Headin South - the only one I have!

Became a fan:Hollins Grad - 1985. Y'all were just always around. Also, coincidentally, I worked in the same incubator program that John had his business in and I discovered who he was when I saw all your CD's laying around his office. That's when I bought Headin South. This must have been 1991.

Comments:My sister said she saw y'all at the Kerrville, TX festival last month. I didn't know you got around that much. I'm in San Diego now. Do you ever get out here? I would love my husband to here you live and I would sure love to see you again!
