Favorite SGGL Song: love 'em all
Favorite SGGL Album: live at Wolfetrap

Poll response: Prefer studio recordings

Became a fan:Saw SGGL around a year ago at the Birchmere and was hooked with the first song!

Comments:The latest CD recorded in VA at the Barns is absolutely top notch. The overall volume is perfect, the mixing excellent, and the song selection perfectly highlights the strong points of each member's voice. I normally don't like live albums too much, but this one is out of this world. I own around 300 CD's and this is one of the few in which I love almost every single song on the album. Great going guys!!!!! Thanks for working so hard to be so good, despite the separate time zones :-)

Became a fan:Played trombone in the pit orchestra for "Once upon a Mattress" (1979/80?) when Tom played the prince. Met Tom and later heard him perform in a Charlottesville pub. Always impressed with his voice. Lost touch over the decades but believe we have a common friend in Shawn Whitson Evans Bateman (at one time married to Jamie Evans).

Comments:Moved to Massachusetts in 1989 with both albums and video of farewell performance. To this day, my wife and I listen to recorded and re-recorded cassettes of the albums and watch the video when we feel the need. Glad to hear you are still in the music business. Keep up the good work and come north please.

Favorite SGGL Album: ON THE SHOULDER

Poll response: Prefer live recordings

Became a fan:Introduced to me by a friend who had waited 8 years to see SGGL live. We finally got to see them at the Birchmere. I was dragged along to the concert I have ever attended. They perform the way music was meant to be.

Comments:I would like to thank all the members for taking time away from their families to give the rest of us a clue into what true friendship is. I also would like to thank Rusty Speildel for talking with my friend and I after they had been on stage for a grueling concert

Became a fan:I met Michael Lile through Tom Kimmel, when they played with Hunter Moore, as a trio at Eddie's Attic in Atlanta, 1994. A mutual friend let us all spend the night at her house afterwards. The next morning, Tom and Michael treated us to one of the best back porch serenades I have ever been blessed with! Michael had helped Tom get started in kayaking, and they left for N. GA kayaking country after we got some lunch. I have since heard Michael and Tom in two more configurations: as the Sherpas, with Tom Prasada-Rao, and at the Bluebird Cafe, in the round with Don Henry and another Nashville songwriter. BUT I have yet to hear SGGL! I will stay tuned...

Favorite SGGL Song: Changes Every Time I Listen....currently Your Love Keeps Me Hanging On
Favorite SGGL Album: The SGG/SGL Collection

Poll response: Prefer live recordings

Became a fan:I went to W&L Law School during the 80's. One night they played at the campus bar and I had a great talk with Tom during a break. I will never forget the Summer of 1987 concert at UVA....a great show despite the brutal heat!

Comments:I see that the band plays once per month or so at the Birchmere....any more involved touring plans ever considered? Living in Buffalo and seeing the way great bands like the Barenaked Ladies, the Waltons, Spirit of the West and Blue Rodeo get ignored, I have become more aware of the vagaries of musical fame...but I still dream of SGGL playing in front of 10,000 fans in the middle of downtown Buffalo as part of the Thursday in the Square series here...maybe the Summer of 2001???

Became a fan:I became a fan during my three-year stint living in D.C. from 91-94. First saw the band at the Birchmire and was impressed by the acoustic sound and the sense of fun the band seem to radiate to the audience. I don't get to hear much of the new stuff since I moved to Germany, but put on a CD now and again to remind me of "Good Old" days!

Favorite SGGL Song: Thirty Thousand Sunsets (but I really like Tom's song about the Texas Inn)
Favorite SGGL Album: Just For You

Poll response: Prefer live recordings

Became a fan:I became a fan during prospective student weekend at RMWC when I heard Michael Lille play (Tom was out sick that weekend I think). Somehow I think that influenced my decision to go to Randolph-Macon. I then enjoyed 4 years of hearing Tom's wonderful playing, singing and moving lyrics (sometimes to tears, sometimes to laughter... anyone who has heard him knows what I mean). I also got to see SGGL in the Dell. I remember Rusty saying (as I was buying a t-shirt)... 'Hey someone is buying one of those weird shirts' :) I bought 3 of their CD's before I even owned a CD player! I hope to hear the concert this weekend (and many more).

Comments:You guys should definitely play more often in Baltimore (and DC). Please keep playing. Oh, and I keep praying for the day when Tom will put out a solo album! Please?
